H1N1 Vaccination at Sandia Base
The New Mexico Dept. of Health will be at Sandia Base on Tuesday, February 16 to vaccinate students. Consent forms can be picked up at the Nurse's Office at the school.

PTA General Meeting
PTA will hold its February meeting from 5:30 until 6:30 in the Library. Everyone is welcome.

District Benchmark Assessments
Students will be given the District Benchmark Assessments (DBA) for reading and math in February. Testing will start on February 8th and finish by February 19th. Students in 1st through 6th grade take this assessment 3 times per school year. The test helps teachers to understand student progress and prepare for the State Assessments in April.

Flu Mist Clinic
The flu mist clinic for Seasonal Flu is scheduled for December 1st. Note that this clinic is for mist only. Students with chronic health problems (such as asthma) are encouraged to visit their promary care provider for a vaccine. If your student has received a flu mist or vaccine after returning a permission form, please contact the health office before the clinic.

Winter Break
Our Winter Break starts on December 21st and our first day back to school is January 5th, 2009.

Parent Conferences December 3rd and 4th.
Parent Conferences will be held at Sandia Base on December 3rd, and 4th. There will be NO school on those two days.

Thanksgiving Day Holiday
Parents, don't forget that our Thanksgiving Break is November 25, 26, and 27. Have a restful break and enjoy the holiday. Thank you to all of the parents who attended our Thanksgiving Lunch on November 19.

WELCOME BACK SANDIA BASE FAMILIES
Student supply lists have not changed from last year. Please go to the link on our web site to locate a copy. You may also drop by our office and get a grade level supply list.
Student classroom assignments will be posted on the Cafeteria windows around 12:00 noon on Friday August 14th. If your child's name is not on those lists please check with staff at registration in the Cafeteria.
Between 3:00PM and 4:00PM on August 14th teachers will be available in classrooms to meet with and introduce themselves to you. We will have school maps available to assist you in locating your child's new classroom.

Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts Recruitment
The Sandia Base Boy Scout and Cub Scouts will be recruiting for new members at the Fall Festival on October 23rd at 5:30PM

New Student Registration for 2009-2010 School Year
New Students to Sandia Base who have not already completed registration forms will register on August 13, and 14. Registration will be in the cafeteria from 9:00AM until 4:00PM on those days. Please Bring Vaccination records, Proof of Residency (Electric bill or Rental agreement), and Birth certificate.

Student Trasfer Applications
Parents can start requesting a transfer to a school outside of their designated attendance area beginning February 2nd, 2009. Parents can apply at the APS Service Center, 6400 Uptown Blvd., Suite 100 West, or go online to the Service Center Home Page, aps.edu

PTA Chocloate Fundraiser
Thank you to our PTA for the successful Chocolate candy sale. This activity is an important support for field trips and other activites that our PTA helps us with.

Breakfasts
All students at Sandia Base are eligible for free breakfast. We begin serving at 8:30AM and stop serving at 8:50AM. Please have your child come on time to breakfast so that they can finish before classes begin at 8:55AM.

Volunteer Crossing Guard Needed
Sandia Base Elementary needs several volunteer crosswalk guards to work on a rotating schedule. This is a volunteer position and APD will train you. If you are interested please contact Sandia Base Elementary School at 268-4356.
